Hover Disc - Phase 2

While we wait for the Hover Discs to come in let me tell you about Phase 2. It all started when He-Mike and I started talking about custom vehicles. As we shared ideas we realized that we were both thinking in the same direction so we decided to team up!

After some brain storming we decided to build upon what I had already started, the Hover Disc. So the idea became to design and develop a booster pack for the Hover Disc. This booster pack would allow you to make a Hover Chariot!

The Hover Chariot would be fully customizable, with the main feature being the front shield. We would offer several different shields so you change themes, if you wanted to use it for you MOTUC figures, Star Wars Black figures or any 6" - 7" figure you could!

Below are the latest designs we have, it is still a work in progress and we still have some engineering to do but at least you can see the idea. We hope to have them ready in 2014. We welcome any ideas and suggestions you may have.

General Sunder

I wanted to show my custom General Sunder.

The head sculpt was graciously provided by Kevin Kosse of MotU Classic Custom heads:

Since I did not want to damage by Horde Tropper, as they are super rare,  I made a cast of the chest and modified that. The cape is from Chief Carnivus and the guns holsters are modified Adora gun holsters.

Making of my Attak Trak V1

I decided to go back and update my Attak Trak. I want to fix some of the colors and add more details. In the mean time you can see pictures of the completed vehicle V1 here:

http://joeamaro.blogspot.com/2012/05/if-you-have-been-following-me-on.html

I noticed I have never posted all the in progress pics I took, so here they are Due to the size, I needed to use an inexpensive material that I could buy in sheets. I chose Foam Core since I can buy huge sheets for $2. I love this stuff!...

LEGO Bounty hunters

I was really happy with how the LEGO band came out, so I decided to sculpt the remaining Bounty Hunters LEGO has not yet made! Again the challenge was trying to replicate the LEGO style so that they all fit in!

I also started a Flicker page because it seems that is where LEGO fans post their work. I have more pictures there.

More Custom LEGO minfigs - Max Rebo Band!

I got my LEGO Jabba's Place built and so I needed his band. However, LEGO only makes one of the band members, Max Reebo. So I decided to sculpt my own. The tricky part was trying to copy the LEGO style. I think they fit in well!

1st LEGO Custom MiniFigs - Kenner Droids

I always wanted a LEGO R2-D2 & C-3PO  MiniFig that were Chrome, like the vintage Kenner figures. It took me forever to make this one happen!

I tested over 20 different combinations of water slide paper and sealant over a year until I finally found a combination that worked. I worked on it off and on for over a year buying and testing all kinds brands.

Then recently I found a brick store that sells Chrome LEGO parts. This is what finally got the project in motion. Now I re-created the current C-3PO chest artwork to make the water slide decal. They actually turned out a lot better than I thought!

RQ-22 Update!

I showed you the design a while ago, now the sculpt is done!

You can see RQ-22 is smaller in scale, better detailed and has a lot more articulation when compared to his MOTUC brother.

MOTUC Figures are about 7" and the Star Wars Black Series figures are 6".
Plus I wanted him more to a Twiki from Buck Rogers scale.

Star Wars Black Series - Jabba The Hutt

May the 4th be with you!

This weekend at Daxie Boy Toys I revealed my newest custom of Jabba the Hutt and Salacious Crumb in the new Star Wars Black Series 6" scale. I decided to make them as soon as I heard we were getting Boba Fett at SDCC! A big thanks to Gino Ybarra for helping me out.

The biggest compliment/question I kept getting this weekend was...is that the Sideshow Jabba?
Ha Ha, nope that is mine!

Below are a bunch of pictures of the figures and underneath those are some work-in-progress pictures of how I made them. There is a also a sneak peek below of the next figure we are working on.
